Our Mission
The mission of the Won Inner Calmness is to create a world free from suffering. To realize that goal, in this era when human minds are enslaved by materialism, the Won Inner Calmness is creating a sangha where people from all walks of life study dharma, practice and work together. Regardless of their faiths, they can develop their spirituality through enlightening their minds.
Our Vision
The vision of the Won Inner Calmness is a refuge where people can restore their true selves through faith in universal truth and practical spiritual training, based on the teachings of Sotaesan, the founding teacher of Won Buddhism.

THE FOUNDER OF SOMA
Sam struggled with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or ME, for most of his twenties. With no known ‘cure’ available in Western Medicine, he instead chose to give meditation a try. From the first session he immediately felt a level of relaxation he didn’t think possible and felt more alive too.
Once he fully recovered, Sam began his journey to becoming a meditation teacher, and sparked a passion to share the benefits he has experienced himself, and help to show people that they can feel better – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I became so fascinated about learning all the ancient knowledge of the Vedas and how it’s so relevant to us today, that I followed my heart and began my training to become a teacher in order to help others.

It had taken me 3 years to become a teacher during which time I undertook several advanced courses and rounding retreats, which have been valuable contributions to my ongoing learning and recovery to greater vitality. Finally, I then underwent teacher training for 3 months in Bali, where I would meditate for up to 14 hours a day. The session wasn’t full of hippies like you may imagine! There was a range of people from all walks of life and varying ages and I felt very comfortable. For the first time I had found something productive that I could do to help myself everyday, no matter where I was or what I was doing. I am now teaching and running retreats in the UK and Portugal. I live with my wife, Maria and our Miniature Red Poodle, Dobby. My wish is to teach Vedic Meditation to as many people as possible, so they too get to experience the profound benefits this simple and effortless technique can offer them. You are one of them.
